When you mix in the fact that the guy can sing an upbeat, rocking, tune with a voice that booms from a 6 feet-4 inche frameΒ over the crowd you can definitely see that this is someone that is about to peak a tremendous interest amongst the industry.

Ben Broussard Country Music Star

Ben Broussard was a .263 hitter with 87 home runs during a seven-year Major League career from 2002-08, including slugging 69 home runs during a five-year span for the Indians. He released his second album, Renovated, in 2009 after his baseball career concluded. Broussard’s songs have been featured on ABC’s β€œGrey’s Anatomy,” CBS’ β€œCold Case,” FOX’s β€œBones” and MTV’s β€œThe Real World.”

Keni Thomas Country Music

Keni Thomas, aΒ former Army Ranger and member of the elite Task Force Ranger assault unit,Β Β fought in the Somalia battle recounted in the book and motion picture Black Hawk Down. He was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor and the combat infantryman’s badge. He spent four more years in the Army as an assistant team leader for the 75th Ranger Regimental Reconnaissance Detachment. He got out of the Army to work as a counselor in an outdoor therapeutic program for troubled youth. He is also a national spokesman for the Hero Fun and the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which provides college educations to the children of special ops personnel killed in combat or training. Thomas and his band Cornbread — named after the precooked military food that no one but Thomas enjoyed — are based in Columbus, Ga. They sold more than 10,000 copies of their independent releases by constantly touring the Southeast. Teaming with Brent Maher and Mark Selby, Thomas released the album Flags of Our Fathers — A Soldier’s Story in 2005 on Moraine Records. Guest artists include Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, Michael McDonald, Kenny Rogers, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, BlackHawk and Shawn Mullins. He is regularly booked as a keynote speaker for corporations and organizations around the U.S., sharing his motivational message of teamwork and leadership. He was also hired as an off-screen military advisor and an on-screen squad leader for Mel Gibson’s We Were Soldiers. Thomas and Cornbread also appeared in the film Sweet Home Alabama. Thomas issued the album, Gunslinger, in 2008.

Joe Nichols Country Music Star

Joe Nichols received new artist awards from the Country Music Association, Billboard, Radio & Records, Music Row and the Academy of Country Music after first making a name for himself in Nashville nearly 10 years ago. Since then, he has received four Grammy nominations, a CMA Album of the Year nomination and a New York Times’ Best-Albums-of-the-Year nod. Nichols’ multiple RIAA platinum and gold albums and singles include chart-toppers such as β€œBrokenheartsville,” β€œTequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off” and β€œGimme That Girl.”

Peter Gammons has covered the game of baseball for more than 40 years and is currently a columnist for MLB.com and an on-air analyst for MLB Network. He was named National Sportswriter of the Year three times and received the J.G Taylor Spink Award from the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006. The longtime guitar player has always had a penchant for independent rock and the blues, and is active in the indie rock scene in his hometown of Boston. Gammons released his debut album, Never Slow Down, Never Grow Old, in 2006.

Bronson Arroyo has been the ace of the Cincinnati Reds’ pitching staff since 2006 and has compiled 112 wins during his 12-year Major League career. Arroyo, who was a member of the Boston Red Sox’ 2004 World Championship team, is a self-taught guitarist but sticks to only singing on stage now because of recurring carpal-tunnel syndrome from too much guitar playing. He released his debut album, Covering the Bases, consisting of 1990s cover tunes in 2005.

Huston Street enters his first season with the San Diego Padres in 2012 after compiling 178 saves and a 3.11 ERA in seven Major League seasons since being named American League Rookie of the Year in 2005 with the Oakland Athletics. Street originally spent $100 on an acoustic guitar and learned how to play to fight boredom while traveling on the road during his first Major League season. He later received a Taylor Acoustic 8 Series guitar as a gift and has not stopped playing it since.
