The Cowboy Lifestyle Network proudly presents Another Friday Production owner, Marcous Friday.
Mr. Friday hails from Tulsa, Oklahoma and has been quietly building an empire in the rodeo industry for the last 21 years. Marcous started out as a contestant, riding bulls. He says that as he made the transition from young teen to manhood, he knew he was not built like most bull riders and made the leap to Steer Wrestling. He eventually got his association card and traveled the U.S. competing with friends such as Donnie and Ronnie Stevens (the twins), and it was they that encouraged Marcous to help announce certain events. He also had a mentor, Mr. Charles Evans, who was one of the very first announcers to narrate a live event horseback. Mr Evans asked Marcous to first help with announcing the steer wrestling, because Marcous was familiar with his peers. And from there, Mr. Friday applied for and received his Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) card in 2010; after attending classes and undergoing the process of being critiqued, judged, and finally certified by PRCA staff members.
His productions are firmly planted in family and tradition. He keeps his audience, competitors, and family in mind and heart when planning and producing events by attending to every detail and person involved. One can’t help but notice a deep-rooted and family feel to a Friday Production. From the very young 4 year olds who compete in Muttin’ Bustin’ and Pee-Wee Barrel Racing, to the 78 year old grandma competing in the Women’s Barrel Racing; there is something for everyone. Even the music is all-inclusive from the 60’s to present and Country to Rock; R&B and Hip-Hop, and Rap to the Friday-coined “Hip-Hop Country”.
What can you expect from contestants at a Friday Production? The answer would be all of the traditional rodeo events and MORE! From Bareback Riding to Muttin’ Bustin’; Steer Wrestling to Team Roping; and Barrel Racing to Bull Riding – and a true and unique Friday event would not be complete without the exciting Pony Express Relay Race!Β Over the summer months of 2016, CLN will be spot-lighting Marcous Friday, of Friday Productions. We look forward to sharing more of his unique story. It’s people like Marcous Friday that make the rodeo arena keep spinning!
