Bobby Kerr is coming back to Mandan Rodeo Days! Bobby Kerr and the Mustang Acts are a must-see for anyone who is a fan of rodeo events, horses or expert horsemanship. The bond that Kerr demonstrates with his horses is awe-inspiring. The horses that Bobby Kerr uses to ride and perform the amazing feats are not common, everyday horses. Each of the equestrian athletes was once mustangs running free and wild on America’s plains.
Mandan is proud of its rodeo history. It started as a Fourth of July event back in 1879 with a baseball game and pony races. In 2020 the event will celebrate its 141st anniversary. Mandan has a rich history that continues to show through in each and every performance. In the 1940s, Mandan Rodeo Days was a high-class production where top cowboys like Toots Mansfield, Gene Ross and Casey Tibbs competed and celebrities like Gene Autry and Rex Allen performed. The Mandan Rodeo became famous as part of the “big loop” that included the Cheyenne Frontier Days and the Calgary Stampede allowing cowboys to go from rodeo to rodeo winning money in what’s referred to as “Cowboy Christmas” around the 4th of July every year since the beginning.
