Alabama-raised Johnny Dailey is set to release his debut EP, Dillashaw, on Friday, March 4th. The six-song album is a curation of stories about growing up on Dillashaw Creek in north Alabama, just outside of Birmingham.
“It goes back to growing up in Alabama and all the experiences I had there. I think it will be a good first chapter to kick things off. It’s a really important place to me and goes back to my roots,” says Dailey.
Although Johnny, his wife, and his son live in Music City, he still enjoys going back to his family farm when he has time off.
As of now, four singles off the album have been released, including Trouble and 24. “All of the songs hit a different bullseye and mean something different to me, but my favorite song on the album is actually the only one I didn’t write. My co-writer friend, Scooter Carusoe, sent Friends, Farms, and Fords over to me and I knew I had to record it. It’s one of those songs you hear that’s worth the words. It makes you remember how you felt, where you were at that moment. It will definitely hit home for anyone who grew up and left their small hometown for a job or a big city. For me, I feel it really connects to growing up in Alabama and who I am deep down inside at the core!”
Just three years after his first major publishing agreement, in January 2022, Johnny signed a global publishing deal with Endurance Music Group. Opening for Old Dominion in 2021, Johnny and his team are currently working on future tours with other artists. In addition to touring, he is also working on honing his feel-good sound and style of country music. Lyrically driven, Dailey hopes his music and personal stories resonate with fans as they listen to Dillashaw. “I’ve always had a desire to tell my story through song and have it connect with people in some way. Songs have always been a source of comfort for me and I’ve always wanted to sing songs that provide that comfort for other people. It’s a good feeling when you know someone else has been in your shoes,” Dailey explains.
