Nominate a Hero: Land of the Free Because of the Brave

Written by

Record Rack’s annual Bucks for the Brave Veteran’s Hunt is returning bigger and better in 2023! For the first time, Sportsman’s Choice Record Rack and partners are offering a once-in-a-lifetime hunting experience for TWELVE retired first responders and military veterans. Nominations for the Bucks for the Brave Heroes Hunt opened on July 4th and will be accepted through September 11th, 2023. Information on the hunt dates, eligibility, and how to nominate a hero is below!

This event was started as a way to show support for our military and first responders. The mission of Bucks for the Brave is to provide a platform for the loved ones and communities that support these heroes, to share their stories, and unite us all in honoring and recognizing their service to our country. The all-inclusive event is a small way for us to give them the thanks they deserve, and the opportunity to experience some of the comradery they’ve been missing. Visit the following link and submit a nomination for the hero in your life, that is no longer serving in the following fields: Air Force/Space Force Veteran, Army Veteran, Coast Guard Veteran, Marine Corps Veteran, Navy Veteran, Retired Law Enforcement, Retired Firefighter, and Retired EMT.

  1. Nominate and recognize a hero in your life. You can nominate any retired or non-working nominee from the following fields: Air Force/Space Force Veteran, Army Veteran, Coast Guard Veteran, Marine Corps Veteran, Navy Veteran, Retired Law Enforcement, Retired Firefighter, and Retired EMT.
  2. Upload a photo to the Sportman’s Choice website with your hero’s story.
  3. Wait for the Grand Prize Winner announcement that will be made on October 6, 2023.

New This Year!

A total of TWELVE heroes will win this year. There will be one male winner from each of the eight categories: Air Force/Space Force Veteran, Army Veteran, Coast Guard Veteran, Marine Corps Veteran, Navy Veteran, Retired Law Enforcement, Retired Firefighter, and Retired EMT. These 8 heroes will go on an all-inclusive hunt (as defined in the official rules and regulations) that will take place over Veteran’s Day weekend, November 8-12, 2023 at Trinity Oak’s Thumbtack Ranch in Batesville, TX.

In addition, there will also be a total of FOUR women from the group of nominees to go on an all-inclusive hunt (as defined in the official rules and regulations) that will take place November 1-5, 2023, at Trinity Oak’s Thumbtack Ranch in Batesville, TX.

Led by the ranch’s expert guides, the heroes have the opportunity to hunt twice a day, with delicious home-cooked meals provided by the dedicated volunteers from Trinity Oaks. It’s not just about the hunt, but also the lifelong friendships that are formed during the trip. Each year, our family grows, and we eagerly anticipate who will join us this year.

The twelve grand prize winners will enjoy an all-inclusive hunting experience at Trinity Oaks Ranch in Batesville, Texas. The ranch is a special place that allows the heroes to connect with other veterans and first responders on a deeper level throughout the trip. There will be numerous volunteers on site to help ensure the heroes receive the welcome and hospitality they so deserve. The five days are filled with hunting, fishing, archery, campfire concerts and so much more. You never know who will surprise these heroes with a guest appearance. What we can guarantee, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

To nominate your hero, submit a photo and a short essay explaining why they should win. All nominations must be submitted by September 11th, 2023. Nominees will be contacted to verify eligibility and availability to attend the hunts scheduled for November 1-5, 2023 (females) and November 8-12, 2023 (males). Heroes will be selected by a committee made up of contest partners, Veterans, and Retired First Responders. These 12 heroes will be our Grand Prize Winners that are announced on October 6, 2023.

Join Cowboy Lifestyle Network in supporting this great cause as we honor those who have served their country and communities. We encourage you to share and nominate your hero today! You can find the nomination link below.
