Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo 2019

Written by

July 19-24th kicks off the 85th anniversary of Ogden Pioneer Days in Ogden, Utah. This celebration started in 1934 when Ogden City Mayor, Harman W. Peery, wanted to entice tourists to visit the city while boosting the local townspeople’s moral. Peery Organized a western festival, making it a national attraction. Today it is Utah’s biggest and best state celebration, and it is also ranked the top five largest outdoor rodeos in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA).

The five-day rodeo includes PRCA sanctioned Bareback Riding, Team Roping, Steer Wrestling, Saddle Bronc Riding, Tie-Down Roping, Barrel Racing, and Bull Riding. Arrive early each day to cheer on the contestants in the Pre-Rodeo; events include mutton busting, Junior Posse Jamboree, horseback musical chairs, and wild cow milking. Show your support for the Miss Rodeo Ogden and Miss Rodeo Utah at the Ogden-Eccles Conference Center as they compete for the newly crowned winner. Coronation of Miss Rodeo Utah is July 24th following the rodeo. Head over to the Ogden Pioneer Days website for more exciting festivities happening around town including parade information, firework shows, hall of fame inductee ceremonies, and much more.

The Ogden Pioneer Rodeo will be celebrating and honor charities that help those in need and show recognition to individuals who give back to their communities.
