Must-See Destination

Redding, California is an outdoor Disneyland for the nature enthusiast and sportsperson. Whether you prefer fishing in the beautiful Sacramento River, hiking along the many lush, greenery-lined trails, or spending a weekend evening at a sporting event with friends and family, Redding has a little bit of everything to keep the outdoorsmen entertained. Heritage

In celebration of this heritage, the Redding Rodeo Association proudly presents the Redding Rodeo year after year. With 2024 marking 76 years of rodeo action in Redding, there is no time better than now to throw on those cowboy boots, get your tickets, and make your way to sunny California for ProRodeo Hall of Fame inductee, the Redding Rodeo.

“Buckin’ By the River”

Proudly “Buckin’ By the River,” this PRCA rodeo is ready to bring you the same caliber of entertainment fans have come to expect year after year. Events include bull riding, bareback, saddle bronc, team roping, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, and barrel racing. Redding Rodeo Week: More than just a Rodeo! 

May 10th | Asphalt Cowboys Chili Cookoff | 6:00 PM at the Redding Rodeo Grounds

Founded in 1953 by 25 local businessmen, The Asphalt Cowboys have spent countless hours supporting and promoting the Redding Rodeo. With a mission “to aid and assist, in any way deemed lawful, in helping the Redding Rodeo Association in the promotion of the Redding Rodeo” (asphaltcowboys.org), the Asphalt Cowboys are proud to present the 2024 Chili Cook-off, street dance, and quick draw contest! Nothing fuels a cowboy better than a warm bowl of chili! You’ll wanna break out grandma’s secret recipe for this fun evening of camaraderie as Redding kicks off rodeo week!

May 11th | 2024 Redding Rodeo Steak Feed and Dance | 5:00 pm at the Redding Rodeo Grounds

Hosted by the Redding Rodeo Association and sponsored by R&R Quality Meats & Seafood, this event will celebrate the start of rodeo week! Mutton Bustin Slack will kick off the event, followed by a hearty BBQ meal at 6 pm. Participants will dance the night away as a live band entertains the audience. Entry is free and meal tickets are available for purchase ($35.00 for adults, $10.00 for children).

May 13th | Special Kids Day | 9:00 am at the Redding Rodeo Grounds

Hosted by the Redding Rodeo Association and Asphalt Cowboys, this wonderful event connects children with cognitive and physical disabilities with the opportunity to get a hands-on rodeo experience. From horseback and wagon rides to exciting rodeo clown performances, this event provides a safe and therapeutic environment to experience horses and rodeo entertainment up close.

May 14th | 2024 Redding Rodeo Hall of Fame Induction | 5:30 pm at the Redding Rodeo Grounds

Celebrate the long legacy of the Redding Rodeo as you enjoy a showcase of rodeo history, remarkable achievements, and heartfelt stories of those who have made many contributions to the sport of rodeo. Presented by the Friends of the Redding Rodeo, Redding Rodeo Association, and with support from Sierra Pacific Industries, this event will honor those who have made a mark on the Redding Rodeo’s past, present, and future. Hall of Fame Induction tickets can be purchased here

May 15th | Native American Heritage Night | Extreme Bulls | Gates open at 5:00 pm / Performance begins at 7:00 pm at the Redding Rodeo Grounds

Presented by Redding Rancheria, you won’t want to miss this night of jaw-dropping bull-riding action.

May 16th | Family Night | Gates open at 5:00 pm / Performance begins at 7:00 pm at the Redding Rodeo Grounds

Presented by SnL Group, make sure to bring the family out to enjoy some rodeo action, rodeo clown fun, yummy treats, and plenty of vendors to explore!

May 17th | Asphalt Cowboys Pancake Breakfast | 5:00 am – 10:00 am in Downtown Redding

Started in 1954, the first Asphalt Cowboys Pancake breakfast served about 700 people! Since then, this yearly favorite during rodeo week has grown to over 10,000 mouths fed! The Asphalt Cowboys are proud to present the largest outdoor community breakfast in the United States! Make sure to come hungry!

May 17th | Tuff Enough To Wear Pink Night | Gates open at 5:00 pm / Performance begins at 7:00 pm at the Redding Rodeo Grounds

Presented by Blach Beverage and Pendleton Whisky, this Friday night rodeo performance honors individuals who are battling or have battled breast cancer. The Redding Rodeo encourages attendees to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness!

May 18th | Redding Rodeo Parade | The Parade starts at 10:00 am in Downtown Redding

Bring the family out for this exciting morning of glittering parade floats, marching bands, equestrian entries, local businesses, and more! The 2024 Redding Rodeo Parade is “Neon Lights & Rodeo Nights!”

May 18th | Armed Forces Night | Gates open at 5:00 pm / Performance begins at 7:00 pm at the Redding Rodeo Grounds

Presented by Sierra Pacific Industries, this final evening of the Redding Rodeo celebrates and honors the many brave individuals who have proudly served in the United States Armed Forces. Attendees are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue in support.

Taryn Cantrell is an Arizona native who has spent many hours in the rodeo arena. Having grown up barrel racing, serving as the 2017 Gilbert Days Rodeo Queen and as a member of the Cowgirls Historical Foundation, Taryn is passionate about her western heritage and all things rodeo. When she’s not on horseback, Taryn can be found playing her bass guitar, painting, and performing around Phoenix with her band. Taryn is a graduate of Arizona State University with her Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance. Taryn is proud to combine her love of the arts with her love of rodeo and has been honored to sing The National Anthem at various rodeos across the beautiful state of Arizona. Alongside her love for art and music, preserving her western heritage and promoting the sport of rodeo are just two of Taryn’s many passions. Taryn is so honored to share her love of rodeo with Cowboy Lifestyle Network’s wonderful audience.
