Semifinals B decides Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo Championship Finals competitors.

FORT WORTH, Texas, (Feb. 7, 2025) — Semi-Finals B at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo (FWSSR) ProRodeo Tournament filled the final spots in Saturday’s Championship Finals.

Saturday’s rodeo is shaping up to be one for the record books. Reigning team roping champions in Dickies Arena, Clay Smith and Coleby Payne have earned a spot for a repeat and they did it the hard way. Smith, from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Payne from Stephenville, Texas, finished third in their bracket to advance to the Wild Card round on Wednesday night. They won that with a 3.8-second run to get to Semi-Finals B.

With Smith, a two-time world champion doing the heading and Payne roping the heels, they had an identical time on Friday night. They have already won more than $8,000 here. If they have the fast time again on Saturday night, they will emerge as champions for the second year in a row.

Last year’s title in Dickies Arena came with $25,000 in earnings for the talented team ropers. That money helped earn them a trip to Las Vegas this past December to compete at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR) where world champions are crowned. And, if they hadn’t won Fort Worth’s rodeo, it’s likely that they wouldn’t have been among the top 15 who qualify to compete there.

Bull rider T Parker, from Winnie, Texas, made the trip to compete at rodeo’s championships in 2023. Last year, he competed through March, but injuries forced him to sit out a good part of the year. Parker had a torn rotator cuff and labrum that required surgery and was out for six months.

He’s come back in a big way here. He won round one of Bracket 4 to advance to the Semi-Finals with $3,750 in earnings. Then he was one of three riders to be successful in Semi-Finals B and had the high-scoring ride at 90 points. His success came aboard Sutton Rodeo’s bull named One Chance and that chance paid off with another $4,333 in earnings. Now he’s hoping for a Fort Worth title and another trip to Las Vegas to compete for a gold buckle.

No one has been more successful in Dickies Arena this year than barrel racer Emily Beisel from Weatherford, Oklahoma. Beisel and her great mare Ivory On Fire, Liza, won both rounds of Bracket 4 and Semi-Finals B. She has earned $8,600 here so far.

The FWSSR ProRodeo Tournament concludes on Saturday night with the Championship Finals. Eight contestants in each event have battled through brackets and the Semi-Finals to ride for a title in Dickies Arena. Championships will come down to who has the highest score or fastest time with action getting underway at 7:30 p.m.
