The 1982 World Champion Bull Rider, Charles “Charlie” Sampson was inducted into the Bull Riding Hall of Fame, Class of 2019, in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Bull Riding Hall of Fame induction ceremony and reunion is Saturday, May 18th, 2019, at the Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas. The Hall observes and honors renowned individuals, organizations, and animals that have made a lasting impact on the sport. It is home to inductee exhibits, accomplishments, videos, photos, and much more. Accompanying Charlie Sampson as inductees for the Class of 2019, are Cody Custer, Butch Kirby, Bobby Steiner, Jerome Robinson, Ken Roberts, and Bobby Berger.
Charlie Sampson has had an impressive career as a bull rider; he holds numerous wins, awards, and other accomplishments. In 1982, he was the first African American to win a Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) World Championship, in 1985-86, and 1993, he was the Turquoise Circuit bull riding champion, in 1996 the Professional Rodeo Hall of Fame inducted Carlie Sampson, and in 2008 he was inducted into the National Cowboy Hall of Fame.
At age 37, Charlie Sampson retired from bull riding after riding at the 1994 Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo. Today you can find him conducting bull riding clinics teaching fundamentals techniques and traveling from state to state to raise money for the Boys and Girls Clubs and the Boy Scouts of America.
It is no surprise Charlie Sampson was inducted into the Bull Riding Hall of Fame. He is an excellent example of a real American cowboy with high integrity, strength, and passion.
