Charlie Sampson has had an impressive career as a bull rider; he holds numerous wins, awards, and other accomplishments. In 1982, he was the first African American to win a Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) World Championship, in 1985-86, and 1993, he was the Turquoise Circuit bull riding champion, in 1996 the Professional Rodeo Hall of Fame inducted Carlie Sampson, and in 2008 he was inducted into the National Cowboy Hall of Fame.
At age 37, Charlie Sampson retired from bull riding after riding at the 1994 Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo. Today you can find him conducting bull riding clinics teaching fundamentals techniques and traveling from state to state to raise money for the Boys and Girls Clubs and the Boy Scouts of America.
It is no surprise Charlie Sampson was inducted into the Bull Riding Hall of Fame. He is an excellent example of a real American cowboy with high integrity, strength, and passion.
