Total Feeds, Inc. Tuesday Q and A:
Q: What happens if you feed your horses more than 4 lbs? (Recommended weight)
A: The feeding rate of Total Equine is very flexible and can be fed at the base rate of 4.0 lb. per day per 1,000 lb. bodyweight with good quality hay, 8.0 lb. per day with no hay or free-choice to an extremely underweight horse and no hay; all with no fear of digestive problems and will not make the horse get fat. So, the only thing that will happen if you feed more than 4.0 per day is that the horse will become more muscular and less body fat.
