Walla Walla Frontier Days Rodeo 2017

Written by

The fun and excitement begins on September 1 and extends through September 3 when the Walla Walla Frontier Days Rodeo commences at the fairgrounds. Western sports fans have the chance to see many of their PRCA favorites compete in the lineup of traditional rodeo events.
Walla Walla Frontier Days Rodeo History
In addition to the annual fair festivities, the Walla Walla management team opted to bring more excitement to the event by adding the Frontier Days Rodeo in 1913. The first rodeo featured cowboys and cowgirls competing in a number of events. By 1938, lights were added to the fairgrounds enabling Walla Wall to host the “Greatest Night Rodeo on Earth.”
In 1948, the Big 4 Rodeo Association was founded. The organization consists of the Horse Heaven Round Up Rodeo, the Walla Walla Fair & Frontier Days Rodeo, the Lewiston Roundup and the Pendleton Round-Up. Competitors amassing the most combined points from all four rodeos walks away with a cash prize and the specially crafted Stoney Saddlery saddle, which boasts the Big 4 Rodeos logo.
Charities Honored
The Tough Enough to Wear Pink symbol is the ongoing campaign promoted by rodeos and western events to raise funds and awareness of the fight against breast cancer. Western athletes and spectators are encouraged to wear pink in support. Walla Walla is also proud to be a partner of the Providence St. Mary Foundation.
