Walla Walla Frontier Days Rodeo History
In addition to the annual fair festivities, the Walla Walla management team opted to bring more excitement to the event by adding the Frontier Days Rodeo in 1913. The first rodeo featured cowboys and cowgirls competing in a number of events. By 1938, lights were added to the fairgrounds enabling Walla Wall to host the “Greatest Night Rodeo on Earth.”
Charities Honored
The Tough Enough to Wear Pink symbol is the ongoing campaign promoted by rodeos and western events to raise funds and awareness of the fight against breast cancer. Western athletes and spectators are encouraged to wear pink in support. Walla Walla is also proud to be a partner of the Providence St. Mary Foundation.
On Saturday, September 2, 2017, at 7:00 P.M., Brent Palmer, Kelli Currin and Brad Gleason join the ranks of past western heroes in the Rodeo Legends hall of fame for the courage and stamina demonstrated throughout their lives while living the “cowboy way of life.”
Along with the many cowboys and cowgirls competing in nightly PRCA events, the Walla Walla Royal Queen and her court will also be in attendance. The royal court for 2017 includes Karissa Stubblefield-Queen, Abby Ann Grudzinski-Princess and Angelea Larish-Princess.
