Dear Friends, WSTR Members, and Finale Contestants,
First and foremost, we cannot tell you how much we appreciate the support you have shown for our sport and especially the Ariat WSTR Finale XV. Regretfully, we must inform you that due to the new restrictions imposed last night, (Sun Nov 22) by the Governor of Nevada, the
WSTR FINALE XV HAS TO BE CANCELLED AND WILL OCCUR NEXT DECEMBER
WITH SOME GREAT INCENTIVES TO STAY ENTERED!
ALL FINALE CONTESTANTS WHO STAY ENTERED GET IN AT $2000/ROPER – READ MORE BELOW
Life should return to normal soon after a COVID-19 vaccine is available early next year, and we can again enjoy this event to its fullest. In the meantime, as a show of our appreciation, we will offer you several options that hopefully will put you first among all other members of WSTR for 2021. We want to be as flexible as possible to accommodate your entries for 2021 and make sure you are in a priority position for everything associated with the event.
Second, we are going to offer three SEMI-FINALS Finale events during the same Finale week (Dec 7-13), two in Texas and one in Arizona – these details will be released in the next few days but we promise these will be great events and provide an extra bonus for Finale XV in 2021. For those of you who have already paid online and have entered the Outdoor Qualifiers you can use this entry money in any one of these three events, or the Outdoor 2021 Vegas events, or future credits toward any WSTR Qualifier during 2021 or request a refund.

You read that title correctly! According to the World Series of Team Roping (WSTR) website, the finale will still be held at the South Point Hotel in Las Vegas just like in year’s past. While Covid-19 has thrown a wrench in the rodeo season as a whole, the association is reporting that their qualifying ropers are up between 20%-30%. They explained their decision to stay in Vegas in an article they released back in September, you can view that article here.
When the NFR and other events that typically take place in Vegas decided to move to Texas, the association was faced with the decision to also move or stay at South Point. Here is a statement from their website regarding the situation,
The PRCA and PBR were forced to move to Dallas this year because they simply cannot exist without spectators because of the term “no spectators allowed” in Vegas. In Vegas the term “no spectators allowed” means TICKETED events. Family and friends watch our Finale. Ours is not a ticketed event. Neither are we considered a spectator event.
They did take into consideration that a majority of their ropers are from the Texas/Oklahoma area, but decided it would be more of a risk moving the entire event than risk having fewer teams. Even with that decision, the event is still projected to top 10 million dollars which is a 28% decrease from last year’s event but still well worth cowboy’s time.
All in all, they aren’t expecting any major changes to this year’s event. As always and as stated above, the event is not ticketed but this event counts on the ropers who show up to make this event what it is. We are excited to see this event going on as normal, unlike most other events we have seen this year. South Point reported that almost everything in their hotel is open to the public, the only exception being the showroom and Grand View Lounge. All restaurants (50%), bars (50%), movies, bingo, bowling, spa, etc. are open as well.
Of course, this event wouldn’t be possible without their partners! The featured partners we want to highlight are YETI and Total Feeds. YETI is the “Official Cooler” of the World Series of Team Roping, providing prizes and support the association in their event. YETI has a “boots on the ground” mentality when it comes to organizations that they work with and tries to be as involved as possible with their partners. Their involvement with the WSTR is just another example of how they aim to support the western industry. The other partner we would like to highlight is Total Feeds, the “Official Feed” of the WSTR. This company lives and breathes the western industry. And with a range of animal feed that provides superior nutrition, this partnership just makes sense. If you are looking for a change in your animal’s diet, we highly recommend that you check your local feed dealer for Total Feeds products. You won’t be disappointed. If you have any other questions on the WSTR Finale, you can head over to their website and check out the full schedule below. See you in Vegas!
