It’s almost that time of year when Sportsman’s Choice® brand of wildlife feeds, otherwise known as Record Rack®, opens up the nominations for their annual Bucks for the Brave event in Batesville, Texas. Cowboy Lifestyle Network has been supporting this event for several years and is proud to play a small part in it. We are now calling on all of our fans to nominate the heroes in their life for the hunting trip of a lifetime. If you’ve heard of the event before then go ahead and nominate your hero below and if you’re new to Bucks for the Brave, then keep reading to find out what it’s all about. Bucks for the Brave has won the hearts of many, including NASCAR driver, Spencer Boyd and even, PRCA Steer Wrestler, Clayton Hass, check them out below!

What is the Bucks for the Brave?

Bucks for the Brave is an annual event that was created by Record Rack, a Cargill®brand of wildlife feeds, to honor veterans and retired first responders. The event itself takes place over Veteran’s Day weekend at Thumbtack Ranch in Batesville, Texas. Each year, there is one winner from each of the five branches of the military, one retired law enforcement, one retired firefighter, and one retired EMT. Winners are chosen by a committee of Active-Duty, Veterans, and First Responders. The contest is open to anyone that falls within one of those categories that is no longer serving.  The purpose is to bring these heroes together and give them back some of the camaraderie they’ve been missing.  Winners will receive an all-inclusive, all-expense-paid hunting trip on Veterans Day Weekend, at Thumbtack Ranch in Batesville, TX.

Last year, 16 heroes were celebrated due to not being able to have the event in 2020, so it was a record year in many ways. Looking forward to this year’s event, Record Rack will be kicking it off with nominations for heroes opening on July 4th, 2022, and will close on September 11, 2022. Winners will be announced in October, with the hunt taking place November 9-13, 2022. Keep reading for all the information or click the button below!

Your Mission

There aren’t many of us that can understand the sacrifices made by the men and women that have served on the front lines of our armed forces and as first responders. However, we can help share their stories and celebrate their victories. Our mission is to simply honor and recognize the heroes in your life. It just takes a minute to nominate any retired first responder or veteran (no longer serving in any of the following fields: Marines, Army, Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard, Law Enforcement, Firefighter, and EMT. You can see more of their frequently asked questions by hopping over to their website.

How to Nominate the Hero in Your Life

Now the fun part! In order to nominate your hero, you need to submit a photo along with a short essay as to why this Hero should be chosen to win. All nominations must be submitted by September 11th, 2022. Nominees will be contacted to verify eligibility (see official rules and regulations) and availability to attend the hunt that is scheduled for November 9-13, 2022. One hero from each category will be selected by a committee made up of contest partners, Veterans, and Retired First Responders. These 8 heroes will be the Grand Prize Winners that are announced in October 2022.
