Having found success very quickly as an annual Top 60 Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Prorodeo NFR Playoff Series stop, the High Desert Stampede 2022 (HDS) in Redmond, Oregon brings you the stars always at the end of March. Partnering with the Central Oregon community, the event’s top-tier rodeo athletes and livestock promote both a sense of community and the western lifestyle.
History of the High Desert Stampede
Unlike many other successful professional rodeos, HDS has only been around for 7 short years. In 2014, a small group of experienced rodeo producers, athletes, and local business owners began exploring how to contribute to the rodeo and western legacies. Being sanctioned as a PRCA rodeo since 2017, the event has only continued to grow, and the HDS has quickly become a Central Oregon tradition.
“The High Desert Stampede is hard at work getting ready for the rodeo, but we are also working to build the tradition of the High Desert Stampede,” HDS Chairman Denis Fast said. “All of the pro rodeos in the northwest, and in fact all over the country, have a tradition going back decades and generations. We at HDS are quite young by comparison!”
About the 2022 High Desert Stampede
This year, HDS will take place March 23-26 with PRCA events such as bull riding, saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, team roping, barrel racing, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, and breakaway roping. In addition to the PRCA NFR Playoff Series Rodeo, there will be a vendor retail marketplace, Rhett’s Rodeo Roundup (an event for children to learn from the pros), and the Rascal Rodeo (a rodeo event for people with disabilities). “We have enjoyed the support of sponsors, fairgrounds, media, volunteers, local government, advertisers and fans; the list could go on and on,” Fast said. “For any rodeo to be successful, it takes the support of the community. We at HDS are blessed to be in Central Oregon.”
