Rodeo is a tradition that has been carried on for many generations. Rodeo events are competed in by men, women, boys and girls are as much about the skill and training of the competitors as they are about the sheer grit and determination of each person who competes. The National High School Rodeo Association is one of the leading organizations that promote these events in youth today, and it offers competition at both the junior high school and high school levels. From July 12 through July 18, 2015, the National High School Finals Rodeo, or NHSFR, will take place in Rock Springs, WY. This event will be held at the Sweetwater Events Complex, and it will bring together some of the most significant and talented up-and-coming stars in the sport today.

The NHSFR is the official high school division for this competition, and there are numerous events that contestants can compete in. These include everything from goat tying, saddle bronc riding and tie-down roping to other events like breakaway roping, pole bending, steer wrestling, barrel racing and more. At the high school division, the events are divided into male and female rodeo events.

Plan a Trip

cowboy roadtripWhile some will be participating in the events at the National High School Finals Rodeo, others will simply want to attend the NHSFR in order to enjoy the entertainment associated with watching teens compete in these events. The NHSFR events will be broadcast online for others to view, but you can also plan a trip to Rock Springs this summer to enjoy the events in person. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door at the Sweetwater Events Complex. Hotel space is limited in the community, so reservations should be made early.
The National High School Finals Rodeo is an event that rodeo enthusiasts will not want to miss. Because it brings together some of the most talented teens from across dozens of states together to compete head to head in many events, the NHSFR is an event that you should make plans to attend. Keep in mind that the high school division is just one segment of the association, and there is also a junior high division that even younger kids participate in.
