A Rodeo Destination in the Heart of North Dakota

Located just across the Missouri River from Bismarck, Mandan proudly embraces its western roots and ranching heritage. The city provides the perfect backdrop for a premier rodeo event, where visitors can experience genuine Midwestern hospitality alongside breathtaking prairie landscapes and wide-open skies.

The competition takes place at Dale Pahlke Arena, located at 2428 Longspur Trail, Mandan, North Dakota 58554. The modern outdoor venue offers an outstanding setting for both competitors and spectators, creating an atmosphere where every cheer echoes across the North Dakota plains.

Throughout the weekend, fans can enjoy more than just championship rodeo. The event brings together western vendors, delicious food, family-friendly activities, and a community celebration that captures the spirit of the American West. Whether you’re a lifelong rodeo enthusiast or attending your first PRCA event, the Rough Rider Cup delivers an experience that goes far beyond the arena.

A Rising Star on the PRCA Schedule

Although the Rough Rider Cup is one of the newer additions to the professional rodeo calendar, it has already made an enormous impact on the sport. Its inaugural event in 2024 immediately became one of the richest one-head rodeos in PRCA history, dramatically influencing the world standings just weeks before the National Finals Rodeo. Competitors praised the event’s exceptional production, generous payouts, and world-class competition, quickly cementing its reputation as one of the premier stops on the circuit.

Today, rodeo fans across North America eagerly anticipate its return each fall. The combination of elite talent, substantial prize money, and high-stakes competition has transformed the Rough Rider Cup into one of the sport’s marquee events.

About the Author:

Biography:

I grew up in Reno, Nevada which often gets confused as a mini Las Vegas. But Reno has so much more than casinos. I grew up branding cattle, hunting with my dad, camping, playing sports, exploring the hills and so on. I found my love for writing early in life and I always had a journal I was filling up. I also found myself diving head first into photography which led me to volunteer for the rodeo I went to every year since birth, the Reno Rodeo. I now write in the Reno Rodeo Magazine and take photos of the rodeo for another committee. My love for country goes back to the early days with my dad floating on a boat fishing listening to old country (90’s or older) and some classic rock n’ roll. I have expanded my passions of writing and photography worldwide, having traveled to the Safaris in Africa, crumbling castles in Scotland, pubs in Germany to the snowy mountain tops of the Swiss Alps; like Ian Munsick, “I see country everywhere.” You can find me now taking pictures of sports or driving around taking pictures of yet another cow. They are too cute not to. It’s guaranteed to find me living my best life. Life is short, so live vibrantly!
