Payson Pro Rodeo 2018: World’s Oldest Continuous Rodeo

Each August, Arizona cowboys and cowgirls mark their calendars for the start of the Payson Pro Rodeo. This PRCA event, billed as the World’s Oldest Continuous Rodeo, is always filled with plenty of thrills, spills, and surprises, and this year’s event promises to be no exception. Rodeo History
Started in the wild west of 1880s Arizona, the PRCA Payson Pro Rodeo has a rich and varied history. Started by local ranchers and cowhands who wanted to get together to show off their skills and have some fun, the World’s Oldest Continuous Rodeo originally could be found taking place on Main Street and Highway 87. And in addition to the rodeo events, the early days of the rodeo also featured plenty of gambling tables and great food. And while the gambling tables may no longer be present, the great food is, along with an old-fashioned parade, rodeo concert and dance, and much more.
