This year, Coors Banquet teamed up with the Wildland Firefighter Foundation to “Protect Our West.” The non-profit Wildland Firefighter Foundation assists firefighters and the families of firefighters injured or killed while battling grass and forest fires throughout the region. With all the fires that are rampant right now, protecting our West and the people involved is truly necessary.
Currently, the number of resources and reinforcements are minimal. Just this last Monday, the U.S. Army started deploying 200 soldiers to help civilian firefighters contain the large wildfires that are roaring across Western states including Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Montana and California to name a few. This kind of recruitment has not happened in over nine years.
The raging wildfires have burned more than 1 million acres of the West so far, Northern Idaho being the region affected most severely, and also the area where over 50 homes were demolished by the clusters of fires burning along the Clearwater River. In addition, one the elderly woman died in the midst of the fire while trying to keep her backyard chickens safe before escaping with her husband. Authorities say she fell and hit her head and had to be evacuated. The Clearwater wildfire was one of 14 major wildfires raging across Idaho and one of almost 95 counted in seven Western states.
It is obvious that authorities, firefighters, and residents are exhausted and working hard to keep the West safe. Right now, Coors Banquet is donating 25 cents to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation for every case of Coors Banquet sold in Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington, up to $250,000.
Along with the Cowboy Lifestyle Network, please help support and join the movement now by purchasing a case of Coors Banquet. For more information about the Wildland Firefighter Foundation, visit http://www.wffoundation.org/.
