Cowboy Lifestyle Network’s Official PRCA Athlete of the Month is the 26-year-old record-breaking bull rider, Sage Steele Kimzey from Strong City, Oklahoma. According to the PRCA website on 9/30/20, Sage Kimzey currently sits in the number 1 place with total earnings of $92, 334.12, he is sitting with just a small $3K lead over his number two, Ky Hamilton. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season continues, but we can expect him back for the NFR, making this his seventh consecutive year competing.
Sage has taken the bull riding industry by storm. In just seven short years, he has made over 2 million dollars and has won six consecutive WNFR since 2014. Will he make it seven this year in Arlington, the new home of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo? The champion bull rider also totes to be the “youngest millionaire in PRCA history during the 2016 Wrangler NFR, at age 22”. Success is something he has worked hard for and has put his time in to get to where he is. Below he comments on how he got to where he is and what inspired him.
“Just growing up in this kind of environment and getting to hang around World Champions all the time, even when I was growing up as a little bitty kid… it really lit a fire under me and made me want to be a Professional Rodeo Cowboy that much more.” -Sage Kimzey
Following in his footsteps is his younger brother, Trey Kimzey. It isn’t uncommon to see the two at the same rodeo competing for the same number one spot. Trey had his first full season in the PRCA in 2019 and qualified his first year for the WNRF. It is going to be really interesting to see where this young man ends up on his bull riding career as well.
