The Texas High School State Finals 2019 is quickly approaching and it will be a rodeo you do not want to miss out on. These kids are going to be bringing the heat as they try to qualify for a position at the 2019 National High School Finals Rodeo, in Rock Springs, Wyoming. The dates for the Texas High School State Finals will be June 8th through the 15th at the Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene, Texas.
As we all know Texas is a tough state to rodeo in, and the talent starts young. Most of these kids who are striving to earn a spot at Nationals are also kids who are hoping to make a career in the arena. They have been spending their time practicing, hitting the jackpots and entering up at any rodeo’s they can in order to not only have a greater reputation but to also get as much practice in as possible. So they can claim their spot on the National team.
Although it is such a large association. Everyone still supports and encourages one another. The minute you enter onto the Texas High School Rodeo Associations website, the first thing you see is their motto. Which is something that really stands out.
“ Enriching the lives of Texas student rodeo athletes by preserving our western heritage through the sport of rodeo, promoting family values, and providing future opportunities through college scholarships.”
It’s amazing that they are encouraging their athletes to take pride in the Western Lifestyle and to appreciate family values. And on top of it all they are helping prepare them for their futures.
With that being said it is a large state with a ton of young rodeo athletes, which means they divide everyone up into regions. Basically wherever your town falls on the map is what region you will be in. The Texas High School Rodeo Association has a total of 10 regions, with each region harboring roughly 100 kids or more. So I’m sure you can imagine how large their state finals will be and how many kids will be competing. I mean it’s going to take them a jam-packed 8 days to get through everything. That’s twice as long as most high school state finals.
So if you happen to be in the good ole Lonestar State, June 8th through the 15th you may want to consider stopping by the Taylor County Expo Center and watching some of these kids compete. Who knows they may be the next big thing?!?
