The 49th Annual Wrangler BFI presented by YETI

Rodeo

Every March, the team roping world circles one date on the calendar: the Wrangler BFI presented by YETI. The premier team roping event is back for its 49th year, March 26th – April 1st. Held at the iconic Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma, it’s a true team roping legacy and showcases some of the best ropers in the world. If you appreciate precision, horsepower, and world-class talent, this is the event for you. The countdown is on, and I’m ready!

A Prestigious Event

While “The Feist” is the main event, BFI Week has a packed lineup of ropings. It’s been great to see added opportunities for women and youth ropers – with women competing in the Charlie 1 Horse All-Girl Team Roping Open and All-Girl Breakaway, and youth competing in Hooey Junior Championship ropings. The Feist is the most recognized and prestigious event in the sport of team roping and features the finest roping and equine athletes the sport has to offer.

This is going to be another year for the record books, with a purse of over $650,000 with 125 of the best teams! Last year, Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira claimed their second straight BFI title with a time of 41.48 seconds on six steers. Will lightning strike a third time this year? We’ll know soon!

Visiting Edmond

If you don’t want to sit at the Lazy E all week, I recommend exploring Edmond! Nestled along Route 66, discover lively festivals, outdoor recreation, and a welcoming community that make it an irresistible destination for your BFI Week trip.

Take a stroll through historic downtown, grab a bite at one of the locally owned restaurants, or unwind at a neighborhood coffee shop between performances. If you’re looking to get outside, there are a variety of options for hiking, fishing, or simply enjoying the water. You can also explore the numerous trails and greenery at one of their many parks, perfect for stretching your legs after a long day at the arena.
