The Tucson Rodeo began in 1925, when “La Fiesta de los Vaqueros” first took the town by storm. The Tucson Mid-Winter Rodeo and Parade was conceived as a way to draw visitors to this beautiful Arizona town, and it has been providing an exuberant celebration of cowboy culture ever since. The rodeo has served as a showcase to luminaries like Trevor Brazile, competing for a purse that now includes more than $320,000 in prizes. It is no wonder that the Tucson Rodeo is considered by the PRCA and others to be one of the top 25 rodeos in the nation. They have even been honored with an induction into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame.
The show will begin on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at exactly 12:30. It runs all weekend and the weekend after, wrapping up on Sunday, February 25. Between those times is all the fun that Tucson can handle. Tickets for this event are available online, or they can be purchased by phone. There is ample parking at the venue, as well as an enormous variety of concessions and beverage options. There will be a variety of ticket plans and packages available, especially for families, disabled people, and senior citizens. More than 200,000 people of all ages are expected to attend the show.
Some of the best things about this show are the special events that accompany the Tucson Mid-Winter Rodeo. There will be a parade, a barn dance, and several concerts featuring nationally renowned musicians like Aaron Watson. When the sun goes down, rodeo fans will be able to enjoy the Vaquero Club and the after parties. There will even be the traditional contest to see who will be the Rodeo Queen. All this goes on with the natural participation of the city of Tucson, which is truly one of the most beautiful and friendly towns in America.
PRCA accredited rodeo activities will range from riding bulls to bareback broncs, wrestling steers, tie-down roping, roping in teams, and barrel racing event for women. “La Fiesta de los Vaqueros” will also host children’s events. Will Rasmussen, one of the best known rodeo announcers in the PRCA world, will be on hand to narrate the festivities.
