Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo 2015

Written by

Where is it possible to find in one place a parade, rodeo, livestock and horse shows and sales, music stages, carnival and more? The answer is the Dallas Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo that begins January 16, 2015, and will continue until February 7, offering over three jam-packed weeks filled with various events. The legendary event has something for people of all ages, and that is not Texas-sized bragging either. If the circus is the greatest show on earth, this has to be the greatest show on dirt.

All Western Events

The activity packed Dallas Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo kicks off with a day of events for special riders, but the clarion call to all is the “All Western Parade” taking place in downtown Forth Worth on January 17. Be prepared to rub elbows with over 100,000 spectators lining the streets to enjoy an unusual sight of only wagons and horses because, in true western style, no motorized vehicles are allowed.
Name a western-themed event, and the Dallas Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo has it. There is extreme bull riding; Nolan Ryan beef cooking demonstrations; horse and livestock exhibits, sales and judging; calf scramble; horsemanship clinics and horse cutting classes; horse roping events; goat show and milking contests; steer wrestling; sheep, poultry and pigeon shows and judging; and so much more that it is impossible to mention it all.

Winning the West Again

Sprinkled throughout the three weeks are special themed events like the “Best of Mexico Celebracion,” “Cowboys of Color Rodeo,” “Kids Gone Wild,” trick rider shows, “Chuck Wagon Racing” and more. For many people, the rodeo events are the highlights. The “World’s Original Indoor Rodeo,” a trademarked name, holds numerous events during the three weeks. The world-class rodeo showcases the remarkable athletic abilities of seasoned athletes who compete in 30 various crowd-pleasing performances that include PRCA bronc riding and bull riding, PRCA tie-down roping, WPRA barrel racing, steer wrestling and team roping.
The 23-day extravaganza also has four acres of shopping, music stages, a carnival and food booths. The Dallas Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo builds up to the grand finale on “Champions’ Saturday.” The last scheduled day includes the rodeo championship finals, Quarter Horse, heifer sales and other activities. Anyone wondering how the west was won will have no doubt after attending this event. It was won the Texas way – Big!
